John "Jack" T. Wright
John (“Jack”) Wright joined the Firm as Senior Counsel on February 25, 2019. Mr. Wright, recognized as a Corporate Counsel “Super Lawyer”, is a highly experienced executive compensation and benefits lawyer with over 35 years in practice, most recently as counsel for 22 years to the distinguished international law firm Davis Polk & Wardwell. Wright has advised on many significant transactions over the years, including the sale of Gillette to P&G, the sale of Heinz to 3G Capital, and the sale of RJR Nabisco. He was also a member of the team advising the Federal Reserve Bank of New York and the U.S. Treasury in connection with AIG and the financial crisis.
Mr. Wright’s practice is focused on complex and sophisticated corporate transactions and sensitive and critical senior executive recruitment, retention, separation and compensation issues for Fortune 100 companies, startups, private equity firms and their portfolio companies. He is also expert in matters involving restructuring transactions, privately held business ventures and individual senior executives. He brings a highly skilled client-centered focus to his client’s business and corporate goals. Mr.
Wright’s approach is to make things work, finding reasonable and practical business-centered solutions to client needs and to provide client- and business- focused counsel, partnering with clients to help reach their goals, while protecting their interests.
Mr. Wright will continue to advise on sophisticated senior executive matters and corporate mergers, acquisitions and dispositions, including employment, retention and separation agreements, equity-based compensation arrangements, golden parachutes, deferred compensation, and qualified and non-qualified retirement benefits, including Employee Stock Ownership Plans. Drawing on his many years of experience in advising both private and public companies, multinational business enterprises, boards of directors, compensation committees, private equity investors and individual executives on a wide range of transactions, Mr. Wright is uniquely positioned to provide clients with sophisticated, practical, thoughtful and efficient counsel in today’s dynamic and challenging business and corporate environment.
Mr. Wright received his JD, Magna Cum Laude, from Brooklyn Law School, where he was a member of the Brooklyn Law Review.
